À propos de Dounia
As a native French speaker with an international academic background and advanced English, I understand how challenging learning a new language can feel — and how important it is to find a teaching approach that actually works for you.
I am currently studying Geography and Urban Planning, after completing the French International Baccalaureate (BFI) in the British section. My journey with English is also a very personal one. Before entering an international programme, I taught myself English to reach the level required to join the British section of my high school. Once I joined the programme, my classes helped me develop my English even further, to the point where I was able to study English literature and poetry, including Shakespeare’s Early Modern English.
During my studies, I also studied History-Geography in English and obtained the IGCSE in English Language. This experience taught me that learning a language is not only about memorising vocabulary or grammar rules. It is also about understanding how the language works, becoming comfortable with it and gradually learning to think in it.
Because I have experienced both self-directed learning and structured language education, I understand how different learning methods can suit different people. I therefore adapt my lessons to each student, their level, their goals and the way they learn best.
As a native French speaker, I can help you develop your vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and speaking skills, while also introducing you to natural French expressions and the way French is actually used in everyday life.
My goal is to create a structured but relaxed learning environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes without pressure and gradually become more confident in French.

My teaching approach is based on one simple idea: learning a language should feel accessible, enjoyable and adapted to the person learning it.
I don’t believe in simply memorizing long lists of French words and their English translations. Instead, I want my students to understand how French actually works and gradually learn to use it naturally. I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, goals and preferred way of learning. Some students learn better through conversation and listening, while others need to write things down, use visual resources or practise through exercises — so I like to combine different methods.
A typical lesson can include a little bit of conversation, pronunciation practice, vocabulary, grammar or conjugation, depending on what the student needs. We can also work on building sentences, understanding everyday French expressions and learning how to think directly in French rather than translating everything from English.
I like making lessons interactive and creative. For example, we might use pictures, audio, short texts, practical situations or even have you write a small journal entry in French. My goal is to make sure that what you learn is something you can actually use outside the lesson.
I teach French to students of different levels, from complete beginners to more advanced learners who want to improve their speaking, vocabulary, pronunciation or confidence. Whether you are learning French for travel, studies, work, personal interest or simply because you love the language, we can adapt the lessons to your needs.
Most importantly, there is no pressure to be perfect. Making mistakes is a normal and important part of learning. I want my students to feel comfortable trying, asking questions and speaking French, while gradually becoming more confident and independent.
