Each class will be designed to suit your needs - we can flow and add strength or slow down and add relaxation and stretching.
The benefits of yoga are numerous, it's helps to calm the mind & body and increase flexibility, alignment and strength (particularly core strength). It make a great addition to an exercise regime or can help to rehabilitate from injury.
In my classes I aim to create a balance in giving the body both effort and relaxation. Focusing on building awareness of sensations in particular body parts, for instances the placement of the arms, legs, movement of the spine etc. Often I add a short meditation at the end or beginning of classes to promote presence in our daily actions.
Giving yourself time to connect with your body and build a relationship with your body you might be surprised by what you can learn and achieve!
I have trained in dance from a young age, undertaking formal training in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) in Perth, Australia at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. I have been working as a contemporary dancer since this time.
In Perth I began practising yoga and over the past two year I have started to teach both one-on-one classes and group classes (in Australia with DirtyFeet and the Dance Makers Collective). I was first trained in the Astanga style but have since become very interested in Iyengar and enjoy teaching flow classes.
In 2016, I travelled to India where I undertook the 10 day silent meditation training for Vipassana meditation and throughout 2017 taught it to dance students in Austria (at the Salzburg Academy of Performing Arts).
Teaching has been a passion of mine for a very long time, I have worked as a dance instructor for the past 10 years. Teaching yoga seemed a very natural progression to take and I am very excited to share my interest in the body with you.
