En savoir plus sur Abdurrahman

  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

Arabic is my native language. I am from Egypt, where Arabic is part of my everyday life and cultural identity. My passion for teaching comes from wanting to share this rich language and make it accessible to people from all backgrounds. I enjoy helping learners discover both the language used in everyday conversations and the beauty of Modern Standard Arabic.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language’s culture?

I would choose Ahmed Shawqi, the Egyptian poet often called the “Prince of Poets.” His work demonstrates the beauty, rhythm, and expressive power of Arabic. He represents a literary tradition that gives learners another reason to explore the language beyond everyday communication.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

I particularly like “أهلًا وسهلًا”—“Welcome.” It reflects the warmth and hospitality associated with Arabic-speaking cultures. It is also the feeling I want to create in my lessons: everyone is welcome, and students can feel comfortable practising, asking questions, and making mistakes.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Arabic connects me to my roots and allows me to share my culture with others. It opens doors to friendships, literature, travel, and a deeper understanding of life across the Arab world. As a teacher, I find it rewarding to help someone turn unfamiliar letters and sounds into meaningful communication.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Beginners may find some Arabic sounds unfamiliar, and learning a new alphabet can feel challenging. The difference between Modern Standard Arabic and spoken dialects can also be confusing at first.

A clear learning plan makes these challenges manageable. I believe in introducing the language step by step through useful vocabulary, short conversations, visual examples, and regular pronunciation practice. Connecting lessons to students’ interests and goals makes learning more enjoyable and gives them opportunities to use what they learn.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

Being a native speaker can make it easy to take familiar words and expressions for granted. Preparing explanations for learners encourages me to look at Arabic differently: an expression that feels obvious to me may be completely new to someone else.

This perspective shapes my teaching. I aim to break ideas into clear steps, use relatable examples, and welcome questions. Understanding a language and explaining it clearly are different skills, and I value continuing to develop both.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

My knowledge of Arabic has developed mainly through living in Egypt and using the language every day, rather than through one particular trip. Everyday interactions show how speakers adapt their vocabulary, tone, and expressions to different situations.

My interest in online teaching also encourages me to think about Arabic from an international learner’s perspective. I want to help students understand the cultural context of expressions as well as their literal meaning, so they can communicate more naturally.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

I combine native Arabic fluency with a thoughtful approach that emphasizes simplicity, interaction, and practical progress. Patience, clear explanations, and respect for each student’s learning pace are central to how I teach.

I enjoy using short dialogues, visual materials, and everyday situations to make Arabic engaging and approachable. I welcome students of all backgrounds and aim to build lessons around their goals—whether they want Arabic for travel, work, friendships, cultural exploration, or personal interest. Above all, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and confident using what they learn.
