À propos de Zabdi
I'm Zabdi, a PhD researcher in ecology at the University of Bern, where I use QGIS and R every day to analyse large-scale spatial datasets across Europe. Before moving to Switzerland, I spent 2.5 years as a university lecturer in Guatemala, teaching environmental science, biogeography, and geography to bachelor's students — so I know how to make complex technical topics accessible and engaging.
I hold a formal certification in Spatial Data Handling and Mapping from the University of Lausanne (UNIL), and additional certifications in Advanced R Programming and Data Visualization from Swiss federal universities.
My background spans three continents — I have worked with spatial data in Arctic environments in Svalbard, Alpine ecosystems in Norway and Switzerland, and tropical biodiversity in Central America. This gives me a broad, practical perspective on real-world GIS challenges across very different contexts.
I genuinely enjoy teaching and adapting to each student's pace and needs. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone looking to level up specific skills, I will make sure you leave each session with something concrete and useful.

My QGIS and spatial analysis lessons are hands-on and project-based — we work directly with your data from the first session, not generic textbook examples. I adapt every lesson to your specific goals, whether you're a master's student, researcher, or environmental professional.
A typical lesson includes a short introduction to the concept, then immediate practical application in QGIS or R. I focus on what you actually need to get your project done.
