À propos de Giuseppina
Giuseppina Prete, born to musician parents, started playing cello at 5 years old in Italy. In 2008, she was accepted to the Accademia di Fiesole in Florence and had the opportunity to play at the Teatro Puccini. In 2010, she moved to Paris to study with Christophe Beau and Marcel Bardon. She obtained her Diplôme d'Études Musicales at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris, and in 2018 was accepted into the class of Cyrille Lacrouts, principal cellist of the Opéra National de Paris. She has participated in masterclasses with Marc Coppey, Jérôme Pernoo, Anne Gastinel, and Éric-Maria Couturier in France, Enrico Dindo in Italy, and Konstantin Heidrich, Stephan Forck, Jan Ickiert, and Tristan Cornut in Germany.
Giuseppina has performed at the Festival des Forêts in France, given concerts with members of the Opéra National de Paris, participated in the Plage Musicale en Bangor festival, given concerts in Italy with Maria Perrotta (Decca artist), and played in a cello ensemble at the Salle Gaveau in Paris. Passionate about orchestral playing, Giuseppina was principal cellist of the Orchestre-Atelier Ostinato in Paris while continuing her studies with Hélène Dautry. In 2025, she was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO), participating in their spring tour under Christoph Eschenbach, followed by their summer tour under Manfred Honeck. They performed in prestigious venues including Teatro Comunale Bolzano, Felsenreitschule Salzburg, Kulturpalast Dresden, Basilika Kloster Eberbach Rheingau, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Berwaldhallen Stockholm, Teatro Verdi Pordenone, Grand Palace Hall Bucharest, and Rudolfinum Prague.
Giuseppina has won prizes in several national and international competitions: 1st prize at the Luciano Luciani competition (Italy), 2nd prize at the Vulaines-sur-Seine competition (France), 1st prize at the international Flame competition, won the concerto competition at the Talent Summer Courses in Brescia to perform Dvořák's Cello Concerto as a soloist, and was a finalist for the Taylor Mulier Scholarship. She graduated as an RCM Scholar from the Royal College of Music in the class of Alexander Chaushian. She is currently doing a Master degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp with Justus Grimm. Passionate about teaching and sharing her enthusiasm, Giuseppina has regularly given lessons for years to students of all ages and levels. She has also worked as a cello teacher at a music school in France.

I believe that every student has unlimited potential, and I enjoy adapting to different personalities. Individuality, passion and confidence are some of the important keys to success. I start with technical exercises, and we work on pieces in parallel to develop musicality and phrasing. My interest is mainly classical, but I can teach other styles, e.g., film music, pop and jazz. I can also give music theory lessons if necessary.

Giuseppina est une excellente violoncelliste en plus d'être une bonne pédagogue. Elle sait user de patience pour tirer le meilleur de ses élèves, toujours dans la bonne humeur et avec humour ! Nous nous sommes rencontrées au Royal College of Music à Londres, et je ne saurais que trop la recommander pour des cours de cello de qualité :)
