I think the best way to learn a language is by using them, of course you should have to follow a book or something, but the main thing is talking with the person in the l'engage and giving him/her some dinámica homework, like write in Spanish what you did yesterday, or watch a movie in Spanish and then tomorrow you have to tell me everything you remember about it...
