À propos d'Haithem
Haithem
Haithem started his dance career in 2008 when he discovered tap dance. This dance gave him the opportunity to play with rhythm and variations using only footwork. Working as an animator he made various choreographies on hip hop music, cha cha, salsa and valse. Since 2012 he completely fell in love with Bachata and has been practicing and teaching ever since. His interpretation of the music makes him a unique social dancer, always surprising his dance partners.
Laurie
Laurie started dancing at the age of five. She enrolled in a dance company where she learned contemporary dance and ballet. At the age of 18 she quit the company and joined a dance group performing in hip hop, ragga and new style. At the age of 21 she discovered salsa and bachata and has been a real latin addict ever since. She has been practicing and teaching salsa, lambada zouk and bachata since 2012.

History of Bachata
Bachata finds its roots in the Dominican Republic influenced by Bolero. It was first brought to life by rural musicians that played songs about romance and heartbreak. The upper classes looked down on this type of music, defining it as 'music of the uneducated'. Bachata slowly made its way out of this negative image and was brought to New York by Latin artists such as Anthony Santos and Luis Vargas. Nowadays there are different styles of Bachata, one of them is Bachata Sensual. This dance orginates from Spain and incorporates elements of lambada/zouk, body waves as well as dips. Bachata Sensual is characterized by freedom of expression and styling.
