The sentence that guides me for each course is: Learn while having fun, in the fun. I approach my students with structure/flexibility. In the case of a 60-minute singing class, I begin with exercises of breathing and muscle tone. (10 minutes) (Note that I spend a lot more time on this aspect in the first class because it is the base and that it is very important) Then, I follow with a vocal warm-up and ear training. I verify the student's progress, give him concrete examples, answer his questions, encourage him in the process, and correct him if necessary so then he can perform well in his moments of individual practice. I show him how to practice. (15-20 minutes) The number of new exercises varies depending on the student's assessment at the time of the course. I show him how to do the new exercise. Send him the material (recording on the piano mp3) to repeat it. Then, proposed by the student and approved by the teacher, we apply the new instructions in a song. (30 minutes) We apply technique, interpretation. I accompany especially at the beginning to find the right tone, tempo, interpretation. I send the frame (mp3) for the student to practice.
In the case of a piano lesson of 60 minutes, it is a little the same formula; finger strengthening exercises at the beginning, techniques, scales, solfeggio, sight reading, rhythm (about 20 minutes). Then, we apply everything in pieces adapted to the student and we work on interpretation and musicality.
In the case of a songwriting coaching: I adapt the course according to the needs of the person. writing exercises, technique, bodybuilding of creativity, then we work on the melodies, the tonic accent, the relationship between the text and the music, the desired effect.
