À propos de Miriam
¡Hola! Hello! Ciao! Hallo! I am Miriam, a Spaniard who came to Ghent with the intention of spending only two years for my master studies but fell in love with this warm and friendly city so now I have decided to stay here. I started learning Dutch in September 2023. I am currently studying level B2. And I already give cello lessons in Dutch to most of my students! :)
I have been playing the cello since I was 7 years old, and during this long musical journey I have been blessed to have met incredible teachers and musicians, both national and international, who have shared with me their knowledge and passion for music and the cello. From all of them I have taken little pieces of knowledge and inspiration that I now share with my students during our lessons. That's why I love music and teaching, I find that knowledge shared and given as a gift is simply something precious and special that I love to be a part of.
Also, I have had the good luck to play in numerous national and international orchestras where I have learned a lot on a musical and personal level. If it's already incredible to make music on your own, imagine yourself accompanied by 100 other musicians, breathing and feeling the music with you!
I'm a passionate, friendly, calm and very patient person. My approach to teaching is to provide you not only with the necessary technical and musical skills, but also to transmit the passion and excitement I feel for the cello and music.

My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent and I am currently studying a Posgraduate in Musical Performance Practice.
I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher.
Don’t have a cello yet or not sure if you’re going to like it? No worries! I have an extra cello (4/4) at home that you can play during our first lessons! This way, you can try it out in a relaxed and pressure-free way, and see if this instrument is right for you while you decide whether to get your own to practice with at home :)

Parfait ! Une excellente enseignante, sympathique, très compétente et d'une pédagogie de premier ordre. Les cours en ligne fonctionnent parfaitement. Elle est à la fois très professionnelle et très affectueuse envers mon enfant. Il s'amuse beaucoup avec elle et, en même temps, apprend énormément de technique musicale. Nous sommes très satisfaits et ne pouvons que recommander vivement cette enseignante
- Edrick (Catarina's son) has a great talent! He is a child full of enthusiasm who pays a lot of attention during the lessons, which is very gratifying for me as a teacher as he always tries to apply the techniques explained at the moment.
